..... Tanna Island - the Need !

Esso and Rachel had been discussing the need for quality Bungalows on Tanna Island to service travellers for some time. It is problematic as one of the greatest assets of Tanna is that it is relatively untouched, and so everything has really been a modification of what had always been done traditionally.

In fact, one of the highlights of any trip to Tanna is the ability to stay in bugalows (Fares) that are similar to the traditional Fares used by 'Man-Tanna' themselves.

However, travellers also appreciate a variety of available accommodation. Esso and Rachel have wanted to provide a 'Superior Bungalow' and had made it a priority for themselves to provide this.

...... Planing and Preparing.

Sometimes we forget how hard things are when you have to start from scratch. We go down to the local hardware store and timber merchant and just pick up what we need. In Esso's case however, he had to go and dig up the sand and builders mix from the beach and local rivers - both not really accessible by road. He had to decide on a couple of trees to cut down and then wait until a portable sawmill was available nearby, to mill the timber. Nothing is easy, and nothing is quick. If a timber size is not around, then it has to be created - by chainsaw if need be.

..... What a Surprise ! !

Esso had it 90% built over January / February 2014 period. Given that tradesmen are few and far between and Building Codes virtually no existent, this was quite a feat.

Mumma's Nima - Superior Bungalow.

Mumma's Nima is the latest bungalow accommodation at Tanna-Adventures, providing a superior stay with unparalleled views across the spectacular eastern coastline, with Mt Yasur providing a dramatic backdrop. Mumma's Nima is a modern take on the 'Tanna Bungalow' affording a higher level of comfort and relaxation, to travellers after a full day's adventure.

Mumma's Nima /Bungalow Mumma's 'Nima' consists of a large and roomy Bungalow, which is considerably bigger than most tourist bungalows on Tanna. It has a full ceiling, and three large glass windows provide extensive views over the adjacent landscape and out to sea. The 'Nima' has a comfortable queen bed, situated near the front of the bungalow allowing great views through the adjacent windows. A single bed is set beside the queen bed but well apart in the the space. The Bungalow's normal configuration is :- • 1 Queen Bed + 1 Single Bed. A further single bed can be set up to suit. The extended configuration is :- • 1 Queen Bed + 2 Single Bed's. The Nima / Bungalow accomodates a maximum of four (4) Adults in superior island bungalow style In the room's front corner a built in writing table, which also doubles as a bag rack. The table has a window affording great panoramic views. Lighting at night is provided by new generation solar Led lighting which is being provided to Tanna Island by a Australian 'NGO'. Esso, being quick to pick up on its potential for the local population is working with the NGO as the main distribution point. The Lights themselves provide an astonishing amount of light. Mumma's Nima has an small verandah at its front so guests can sit out and taken in the expansive sights, relax or read at ones pleasure. At night, clear panoramic skys highlight the bright stars and moon, which reflect off the sea nearby.
